Emergency Lighting

Emergency Light Testing To BS5266

D.I.WHY is accredited to BS 5266-1 the first in a series of Codes of practice on emergency lighting. It gives detailed guidance on the application and practice of emergency escape lighting, with a view to ensuring safety in the event that normal lighting is interrupted. The recommendations have been drawn up to encourage uniformity of application.

The purpose of emergency lighting is to ensure the safety lighting is provided promptly, automatically and for a suitable time, in specified areas when the normal mains power supply to the usual lighting installation fails.

An emergency light is a battery-backed lighting device that switches on automatically when a building experiences a power outage.

As part of our handyman and facilities service D.I.WHY can survey your emergency lighting, and signage for compliance including carry out your lightings monthly short duration test, and annual full duration test documenting all test results for compliance.
